Annual cryopreservation storage refers to the secure, long-term preservation of previously frozen eggs or embryos following an egg freezing or embryo freezing procedure. Eggs and embryos are stored in a specialized cryobiology laboratory in liquid nitrogen tanks at –196°C, a temperature at which all cellular activity is suspended, allowing biological material to be preserved indefinitely without deterioration in quality. Storage takes place in a controlled and monitored environment designed to ensure safety, traceability, and integrity of all cryopreserved material. Continuous monitoring systems are used to maintain stable conditions and protect against temperature fluctuations. While cryopreservation is performed as part of the initial egg or embryo freezing process, annual storage is billed separately and covers the ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and secure preservation of eggs or embryos for each year they remain in storage. Patients may continue storage for as long as they choose and can decide at any time whether to use their eggs or embryos for treatment, continue storage, or explore other disposition options in accordance with medical guidance and local regulations.
