Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, or MIGS, refers to a group of surgical procedures designed to lower eye pressure with less tissue disruption than traditional glaucoma surgery. MIGS procedures are commonly performed in patients with mild to moderate glaucoma. Before surgery, patients undergo detailed glaucoma testing to determine the most appropriate MIGS option. These procedures are often combined with cataract surgery for added convenience and effectiveness. During MIGS, tiny devices or micro-incisions are used to enhance fluid drainage or reduce fluid production.
